Distinctive Features of the Department

With the ability to obtain a BS Degree,the special advanced course program of school nursing has received authorization from the independent administrative agency for the university evaluation mechanism of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. This is based on the School Education Act Degree Rule wherein the student can acquire a degree which will be equivalent to a "bachelor's" degree (a degree awarded at a four year system institution). This is realized by combining the credits of the junior college subjects and the advanced course subjects. In addition, the student can acquire a teaching certificate for School-nursing degree.

As a characteristic of learning about the specialized domains such as the teaching profession or the school health, the undergraduate studies little by little, like stairs, gets higher in the four years but some classes are repeat learning at a deeper level of the classes taken at a junior college. In addition, rather than enrolling in other universities which have different systems you can enroll in the advanced course to pursue a non-degree graduate program which can help you with the academics and research more efficiently.

1. 1. An Authorized Original Advanced Course For the School Nurse License

There are two kinds of school nurse licenses, therefore we have prepared two different courses equally in the advanced course, so you can go forward in your studies with no worries. After obtaining predetermined credits, you can acquire the school nurse license by applying to the Board of Education.

2. 2. "School Nurse Common Use Special Seminar"

A required subject called "the School Nurse Common Use Special Seminar" was newly created. As for this, the subject and the purpose that are recently established in a medical related faculty to inspect knowledge of the basics called "an examination for common use" and the acquisition of the skills are the same, and including studies from the past (junior college years) to the present advanced course studies, repeating examinations and seminars, will reinforce the base. In this, sufficient re-training from the past seminars are performed which will give confidence for you to work in the society.

3. 3. The chance of a teacher employment examination and the training experience is greatly improved in comparison with the university students

[Junior college department and the Advanced Course】with the combined four year subjects, you can take the teaching license examination three times (in your second year of junior college and first and second year in the Advanced Course. To acquire the first level license which requires student teaching, it will be necessary to do second student teaching for the school nurse level two license, you can experience more effective learning while without being shouldered with a heavy burden.

For Those Who Desire to Enroll in An Authorized Advanced Course

(A School Nurse Teaching License Course)

1. Even students outside of Kyushu Women’s Junior College’s School Nurse Department can enroll.
2. If you have 62 credits from a junior college department, it would be advantageous for you to enroll in the advanced course rather than transferring to a four year institution.
3. Please be aware that you must have two kinds of school nurse licenses beforehand.
4. A student who possesses a community health nurse license by applying to the Board of Education has the possibility of acquiring two kinds of school licenses which become the target for enrolling in the advanced course.
5. It is also possible to continue on to graduate school after completing the advanced course.
